These highly readable records of Charcot's clinical sessions at the hospital where he began and ended his richly productive career show his keen insight as a clinician as well as his humor, humanity, and flair for teaching. The world-famous old hospital was named Salpêtrière because at one time it was used by King Louis XIII as a gunpowder storehouse. Another volume of the records of these courses of lectures, covering 1887-1888, was also published.
