BRUNO JACQUES BERAUD (1823-1865) Atlas complet d'anatomie chirurgicale topographique. Germer Baillière 1865 [4] [216] [2] pp., 109 leaves of col. plates. 27.8 cm.
Béraud was serving as surgeon at the Hôpital Saint Antoine when he prepared this work. He had previously been prosector at the hospital, an anatomical aide for the Faculté de médecine de Paris and was also a member of the Société de chirurgie. Active as an author, he also wrote works on physiology, anatomy, rhinology, and urology. The present volume is a comprehensive study of surgical anatomy with many fine delicately-engraved colored plates. Béraud includes notes with each plate which discuss the pathological and surgical aspects of its anatomical subjects. Béraud's valve at the junction of the nasal duct and lacrimal sac is described here for the first time.
