This famous book was brought out almost immediately in the United States and was reissued many times between 1860 and 1918. A second, enlarged edition was also published in England in 1860; another edition with some abridgment and some additions, called Notes on nursing for the labouring classes, was brought out in 1861. The work has been translated into many languages and is surely the most famous and most influential book ever written on nursing.
