Luschka received his medical degree at Freiburg, practiced for a time, taught at Freiburg, and eventually became professor of anatomy at Tübingen. Luschka was one of the leading anatomists of his time and made many contributions to the study of gross anatomy. He was a prolific author, writing many papers and numerous books. This book on the human larynx is representative of his anatomical studies and is a thorough work containing ten fine anatomical plates, several of which are partially colored.
