The Development of Medicine in a Catalogue of Historic Books

Complete Record - Heirs of Hippocrates No. 1827

26.6 cm.

Keber's discovery of the micropyle, the minute opening in the ovum membrane by which sperm enter, may certainly be regarded as a major achievement in reproductive physiology. His work was supported by the eminent British embryologist, Martin Barry (1802-1855), who confirmed Keber's observations in a letter printed in this report of his research.

Gift of John Martin, M.D.
