Neligan began lecturing at the Dublin School of Medicine in 1840 until through transition to Steven’s Hospital in 1857. He taught practical medicine and wrote on a variety of subjects, but principally on the diseases of the skin. He was also an editor at the Dublin Quarterly Journal of Medicine.
