Sylvius rarely departs from his strict conformance to Hippocratic and Galenic doctrines on fevers in this work. However, he does indicate that the book should be a valuable guide for the physician in treating fevers as well as the layperson in preventing them. He also observes that, should the layperson contract a fever, he would be able to evaluate his physician's treatment plan.
