Jones' medical versatility is reflected in his writings which include works on ophthalmology (his major field), pharmacology, ear diseases, reproductive physiology, and hematology. He is credited with discovering the amoeboid movement of leukocytes. Jones was professor of ophthalmic medicine at University College in London when he wrote this textbook of ophthalmology.
