20.9 cm.
Born in Frankfurt in 1830, Sichel came to Paris and established the first private eye clinic where he had a large and devoted clientele. He was justly recognized as one of the finest ophthalmologists of the nineteenth century. This early work on cataracts is an example of his exacting scholarship that helped establish Sichel's reputation. The several plates are similar in style to those in his atlas (see No. 1641).
