Dunglison prepared this popular and well-received treatise in order to provide a book which concentrated on pathology and therapeutics in the practice of medicine. In Volume I, he discusses diseases of the digestive, respiratory, and circulatory systems. In his discussion of each disease Dunglison pays particular attention to its etiology, diagnosis, pathology, and treatment. Volume II is lacking from the University of Iowa Libraries' set.
