Surgeon at Hôtel Dieu and professor of surgery of the Medical Faculty of Paris, Blandin was the first to describe the mixed glands of the tongue (Blandin's glands), and he developed a number of surgical techniques used in rhinoplasty. In Traité d'anatomie topographique he sought to integrate and show the relationship between anatomy and surgery. The twelve full-page lithographic illustrations in Volume II are by N. H. Jacob.
