The present work, published only a year before Casper's death, is a compendium of case histories on the many aspects of forensic medicine. The book reveals that Casper placed great emphasis on the pathological aspects of crime. He presents over 240 cases on rape, sodomy, poisoning, asphyxiation, strangulation, drowning, and deaths of the newborn. In addition, he discusses forensic psychology, the postmortem examination, and determination of the manner of death.
