Two different members of the Beaudelocque family were distinguished obstetricians. Jean-Louis Baudelocque, born near Amiens in 1745, was the most eminent of the family, professor of midwifery in Paris. Auguste César (also listed as César Auguste), was born near Amiens in 1795; his father was first cousin to Jean-Louis. In this book the author demonstrates that epidemics are mainly due to foul air.
