For more information on this author or work, see number: 144

The editors of this modern edition, Kenneth D. Keele (b. 1930?) and Carlo Pedretti (b. 1928), are acknowledged scholars of Leonardo's work and have carefully studied and reconstructed the chronology of Leonardo's drawings. As a result, many puzzling aspects of Leonardo's notes have now been clarified and our understanding of his manner of collecting and interpreting anatomical information has been greatly increased. The text volumes contain monochrome reproductions of each drawing along with transliterations of Leonardo's original Italian notes and translations of the notes into English. The editors have also included detailed commentaries and indices. The 201 drawings have also been expertly reproduced in color using modern photographic techniques and have been arranged in chronological order.
