Prepared by Kenneth Clark (b. 1903), Director of London's National Gallery and Surveyor of the King's Pictures, this is the first catalogue of Leonardo's drawings in the collection at Windsor Castle. Volume I contains an historical introduction, a list of dates in Leonardo's life for which there is documentary evidence, descriptions of the watermarks found on the paper, and detailed descriptions of the plates in Volume II. The approximately 600 illustrations have been arranged in three general groups: horses, caricatures and profiles, and human anatomy.

Gift of John Martin, M.D.
