The Development of Medicine in a Catalogue of Historic Books

Complete Record - Heirs of Hippocrates No. 1448.5

After earning his Surgeon’s diploma in 1812 in Florence, Antommarchi prepared dissections for Paolo Mascagni for nearly five years before he was called away to tend to Napoleon in 1818. When he left, he took 3 copies of the plates Mascagni had been preparing for publication, and published them under his name with his annotations in 1823. This work is a facsimile of this piece. He also kept detailed records of Napoleons medical care near the end of his life; these records were used as source material for a number of books between 1823 and 1826.
