Complete Record - Heirs of Hippocrates No. 1399

GILBERT BRESCHET (1784-1845) Mémoires chirurgicaux sur différentes espèces d'anévrismes, présentés a l'Académie Royale des Sciences le 8 octobre 1832. J.-B. Baillière 1834 161 (misnumbered 169) pp., 6 plates (5 fold.). 26.3 cm.

Breschet was professor of anatomy at the Faculté de médecine de Paris having succeeded Cruveilhier (see No. 1478 ff.) to that position. Although he was primarily an anatomist, Breschet also performed research and wrote on pediatrics, otology, and the anatomy of the skin. This book on aneurysms was first presented as a lecture to the Académie Royale des Sciences and was also published in its Mémoires. Breschet discusses the different types of aneurysms that occur in various parts of the body and presents a number of case histories. The five folding plates accompanying the text are dissections that show aneurysms in the hand, foot, heart, and head.
