The twenty-four lectures presented in this work were delivered by Magendie at the Collège de France in 1837 and 1838. In one of these lectures, he reports the first experiment in anaphylaxis in which he showed that rabbits who had tolerated a first injection of egg albumin died when given subsequent injections.
