In this book, first published in French in 1822, Magendie introduced several newly-discovered alkaloids. Among the drugs he discusses are morphine, iodine, quinine, atropine, emetine, and strychnine. The present work was translated from the third French edition by Robley Dunglison (see No. 1595 ff.).
