Abercrombie, a member of the famous Edinburgh School of the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, was the first to treat neuropathology as a separate entity and is best known through his Pathological and practical researches on diseases of the brain and the spinal cord (1828). The present work, published in the same year, formed a companion volume in the presentation of his wide and important researches.
