The Development of Medicine in a Catalogue of Historic Books

Complete Record - Heirs of Hippocrates No. 1342

JOHN COLLINS WARREN (1778-1856) Surgical observations on tumours, with cases and observations. J. Churchill 1839 xvi, 607 pp., 16 leaves of plates, col. illus. 23.5 cm.

For more information on this author or work, see number: 1340

Most of Warren's work in surgery was done before the era of anesthesia, a fact which makes his contributions in this field the more remarkable. Surgical observations, covering the signs, pathology, and excision of tumors, is his best work and attests to the high degree of scholarship and investigation with which he approached his art. The sixteen colored plates are of special interest.
