Manfredi was an astrologer, philosopher, and general scientist, as well as professor of medicine at Bologna. The present work, first printed in 1474 under the title Liber de homine, passed through many editions until late in the seventeenth century. It contains chapters on diet, sex, evacuation, leprosy, the effects of wine, castrati, and other medical observations, many of which are quite curious.
