For more information on this author or work, see number: 827
The last member of the famous Monro dynasty, Alexander Monro tertius did not rank with his father (see No. 1010) or grandfather (see No. 827) as a teacher or scientist, choosing instead to make use of the notes handed down to him but adding little original work. His monograph on smallpox offers a history of the disease, a summary of the state of its treatment at the time, and a discussion on the effectiveness of vaccination.
