For more information on this author or work, see number: 126

The initial sections on wound dressings in this early edition of Ketham's surgical work are nearly identical with the corresponding sections in the Fasciculus medicine (see No. 126). There is also a section containing recipes for various medications and a final section on bloodletting. This edition contains but two woodcuts, whereas other editions contain as many as eight. The title page has an interesting woodcut depicting thoracic and abdominal viscera and blood vessels, and the last section on phlebotomy is illustrated by a primitive figure of a bloodletting man.
