The present volume was written while Cooper was a surgeon at Guy's, and Travers a vascular and ophthalmic surgeon at St. Thomas'. The volume contains some of Cooper's most important contributions as well as Travers' writings on iritis, phymosis and paraphymosis, and wounds and ligatures of the veins. A third part of the series, mentioned in Part II, was never published.
