First edition of this lavishly produced neurological work. Fischer obtained his doctorate at Leipzig in 1785 and became prosector at the anatomical theatre there. After the publication of the present work he was called to Kiel to be the professor of anatomy and surgery. He became director of the academic hospital in 1802. The plates, drawn by the author himself, show the final lumbar vertebrae with a cross section of the pelvis, and the neuro-muscular structures of the legs and feet. Each plate is accompanied by an outline engraving, depicting the neural work in detail.
