ALEXIS BOYER (1757-1833) Traité des maladies chirurgicales et des opérations qui leur conviennent. Chez L'auteur; Madame V. Migneret 1814-1826 20.1 cm.
Boyer, professor of surgery on the Faculté de Médecine de Paris and surgeon at the Charité, was one of the leading surgeons of the Napoleonic era. Of his several works, the present "was to be accepted as the most authoritative work in surgery in France for more than a generation" (Richard A. Leonardo, History of surgery. New York, 1943. p. 268). Covering all of general surgery, Boyer emphasized the accomplishments of French surgery and treated his subject in an exhaustive but not particularly innovative fashion. In this set, Volume VII is from the third edition of 1824. The set contains seven plates of which five are folding.
