Christian Friedrich Ludwig studied medicine in Leipzig, where he afterwards became a professor of medicine, natural history, pathology, and eventually therapy, materia medica and surgery. He published many books, and was a member of the Naturforschende Gesellschaft (Natural Researching Society) and the Gӧttingen Academy of Sciences.
