The detailed plates in the present work, first published in 1784, show the anatomy of anencephaly in a newborn. Four of the plates depict the cervical and cranial bone structure of this congenital deformity. The remaining two plates are front and rear views of the subject. As in Sandifort's Icones herniae inguinalis, the plates were drawn by Delfos and engraved by Muys.
