A work on cancerous growths (comprehending a wide range of tumours, cancerous and non-cancerous according to modern understanding) and remedies, mostly herbal and chemical, against the ‘virus’. Louis was an outstanding surgeon and the author of the articles on surgery in the Encyclopédie. His later work is almost entirely medical jurisprudence, to which field he made important contributions.
